rapir1620-40.jpg (17053 bytes) Here I'm holding an officer's rapier made around 1620-1640 in Solingen, Germany (LRK 5020). The following stamps are found on the blade: "WEILM * KLEIN * ME * FECIT * SOLINGEN" ("Wilhelm Klein of Solingen made me"). There's also a small, oval stamp on both sides of the blade: "ANTONIO" and a human figure. The handguards are pierced by geometrical patterns. The grip is wrapped with silver thread. LOA: 1164 mm (45.8"), BL: 940 mm (37"). Wt: 1155 gram (2.54 lbs.). This rapier was very nice to handle; at least as sweet as the previous rapier.
